What is a keyless entry system?
Keyless remote entry systems on a vehicle, sometimes referred to as passive entry systems, have a variety of important advantages. The most significant perk of a keyless entry system is the convenience it provides. Depending on which keyless entry system you have in your vehicle, you can be loaded down with groceries and still get the hatch open with a wave of your foot. Just press the button and go, no more struggling to get the key into the door lock. The better security keyless entry offers is another big benefit. The electronics in the key need to be validated by your vehicle before it will start the engine or even open any doors. To be clear, Remote Start and Keyless Ignition are different features, even if they do similar things. Keyless Ignition lets drivers start and drive their car without the need for a standard key. Remote Ignition lets drivers start their vehicle via their key fob. Remote Start can be useful in extreme temps such as very cold or very hot days by allowing you to start the car and help cool it off when it’s hot. You will no longer get into a hot car again, simply use the Remote Start and allow your vehicle to cool off before you drive away.
A Smart Key is the electronic part of your key that is used to remotely access a car. The buttons for your Keyless Entry, Remote Start, and other functions are usually located on the Smart Key itself. A Smart Key then sends radio signals to your car to open the hatch, unlock the doors, and so on.
